In 2015, Jason added Erika on Facebook because they had so many mutual friends and he loved her smile. Erika accepted his friend request since he had lots of hunting and fishing pictures (#1 quality of course). After a few months of not knowing who each other were and liking each others pictures, Erika decided to Facebook message Jason asking him "Do you really live in Alaska?" They talked every single day for a month until Jason traveled back to Eau Claire, Wisconsin for the summer. They hung out almost every day that summer until Jason had to go back to Alaska for 5 months, but they decided to try a long distance relationship. After a year of long distance, Jason decided to move back to Wisconsin to be closer to family and Erika. They went through another year of long distance until Erika moved to Green Bay for Jason. Erika got accepted into medical school in West Virginia which yet again was another year of long distance for the two of them until Jason moved to West Virginia a year later. They have withstood the test of time and overcame any obstacle that was thrown at them to make sure their relationship would last. 3 different states, living in 3 different houses together, adopting a dog (don't worry, Wilson is the best boy), and traveling to anywhere medical school takes Erika, they have always stuck by each other's sides. They are so excited to start their future together as husband and wife.
Erika had always wanted to go on this hike since moving to West Virginia. Her family was supposed to visit this weekend but plans were cancelled due to COVID, and therefore Erika didn't feel like going on the hike anymore. Jason convinced her that they should still go, and she eventually agreed. They hiked the 4 mile trek to the top of the mountain where they had lunch and enjoyed the amazing view. Erika asked Jason if he would like to take a picture with the view in the background, which is when Jason got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! Erika of course said yes!
