Mutual friends Tasha and Dan Delgado introduced them. A few friends met up for a San Diego Padres baseball game. Erika's first impression of Jake ended up being, "He curses too much!" HA Fast forward a few months to the mutual friends wedding night. Jake and Erika were seated at the same table (Coincidence? Probably not.) Soon the two were chatting together in line for drinks or hanging out by the dance floor. The night ended with the two of them catching the brides bouquet and garter! Followed by a slow dance together. Jake had won Erika over.

Poor Jake. How does one plan a proposal when Erika is the planner with every detail laid out before hand. A surprise proposal would be a challenge. Jakes ideal proposal would have been in Balboa Park's Japanese Garden because of the special bond they have from taking a trip to Japan together. With Jakes sweet suggestion came a quick no from Erika because she checked the hours of the garden and for the price of admission (a whole $12 dollars) the visit would not be worth it. Jake had to change plans. He knew Erika couldn't say no to a picnic. So on a random summer evening in August they went to a grassy field in Balboa Park with some tacos, drinks, and the dog Penny. This is where Jake proposed and Erika was SURPRISED! They shared a laugh together after Jake explained where he wanted to propose but she had made it too difficult. Then a bottle of wine was opened for a toast and many selfies were taken. This was a evening they would never forget.
