Our Story

Hallmark Original: Country Boy Meets City Girl

Erika's Story: I met Daniel two years ago at my friend's church. She told me that there was someone I should meet and so I met Daniel at church but didn't think much of it. A year later I met him again at a game night my friend organized. I talked to him for a bit, but again, I didn't think I would see him again. When my friend asked if I would ever date him, I remember saying, He's cute but I would never move to Owosso, MI... Fast forward six months and I visit my friend's church again. This time Daniel asks us all out to lunch. I happen to sit across from him at the table and we get to talking. He mentions going kayaking and so we make a plan to go with our friends. Those were the longest few weeks of my life waiting to see him again! We had a blast kayaking and Daniel invited me to a fourth of July party he was hosting where he invited me to take a ride on his motorcycle (sorry, dad). We began to go out on more dates. He came to my town and got to know my family and friends and I did the same. I was blown away by his character, his listening ear, his kind heart, his love for Jesus and so much more. I knew then that I had met the man I would marry. Owosso didn't seem too bad after all... Daniel's Story: I didn't see her at first, well not really. We crossed paths months before I really took note of her. It was a random Sunday at the beginning of June last year. She had come to church with a good friend. After a brief conversation, I invited both of them out to lunch. That’s where the spark began. Over the meal, I listened as she shared about her life, and it quickly became clear how deeply she cares for others. I didn’t talk to her again until two weeks later when her friends organized a short kayak excursion. That day, I got to see her carefree spirit, her love for the outdoors, and her thirst for adventure. I’ve gotta say—she’s just plain fun to be around. One thing led to another: our first date, meeting her parents, introducing her to my family, road trips, flights across the country, camping, hiking, plumbing the house, plenty of laughter, and a few tears. In just one year, it feels like I’ve lived a lifetime, but also like it’s only the beginning. There’s so much more to come. And I can’t wait. The Journey has just begun!!
