The Story of Us

Our story began a very long time ago when we were in the 7th grade. Connor had moved to Amherst, NH where I had lived my whole life. He was the new guy at the school that year, and I was immediately drawn to him. I was always very shy, but I gathered up the courage to finally ask him for his AIM screen name (an old way us kids used to communicate before texting existed) at the end of the year. I was so thrilled when he started writing it down in my 7th grade year book. Later that evening I went home to type in his name on the computer, and it came up as an invalid user. I was sad and assumed he maybe gave me a fake address. The summer went by and I had come to the conclusion he was not interested, so we went on with our seperate lives and never interacted throughout our highschool years. Fast forward to 2017, and we reconnect through social media. We instantly connected and were both beyond ecstatic, knowing instantly we had something very special. One night we were at my Mom’s house for dinner, and I decided to look for our highschool year book to have some laughs at the good old days. I could not find it and Connor was helping me look through a bookshelf where it could have been. He pulled out a different book and was flipping through it, as I was still occupied in searching for the year book. He said, “Hey, this looks like my hand writing, thats weird.” I came over to him to take a look and there it was, in the old 7th grade year book I had forgotten I had, his screen name he wrote down all those years ago. He showed me that he in fact had written the correct name down, and I ended up not reading his chicken scratch hand writing correctly! We laughed about it and couldn’t believe that all those years ago, my heart knew before I did, that he was my soul mate.
