We're getting married!

I met Chris the night before I was taking my Grandfather to surgery. I went to Sidelines for a quick dinner and ended up sitting next to a man named Chris. I ate dinner and we talked. We ended up people watching. I finished my dinner and went home. Months later this random guy at the bar, Chris, asked how my grandfather was doing. I looked at him like he had 3 heads. But then I realized that he was the guy I met the night before his surgery.

Chris wanted my brothers phone number because he was selling something, like a car. Chris is big into cars and was a diesel mechanic in the military, so I knew him and Robert would get along. So I sent Chris my brothers contact info through a text. Well now he has my number too.

We were all going to have an at home movie night at Chris' house. We turned the movie on and sat on the couch. Then Lily and Abby climbed on and cuddled up. I looked over at Chris with tears in my eyes and he whispered "what's wrong?". I said "Nothing, I am just so happy right now". It was in the moment that I knew this was going to be my life and I couldn't have been happier.

Chris bought the ring September 2022. How do I know? Because we went together :) Originally we were supposed to go on a family vacation with my mom and brother in the end of October, but my brother had a motorcycle accident July 2022, so that trip got canceled. Well maybe it will happen on Christmas... nope. Well maybe it will happen during golf in the beginning of January where we had our first ever golf outing the year prior … nope. Well maybe it will be on Valentine's Day... I mean he did cook a 4 course meal... nope. Well now it's spring break and we are going to Hilton Head. I know he really wanted to do it in Hilton Head because that was our first vacation together. Day/Night 1... nope. Day/Night 2... nope. Fast forward DAYS later to Friday April 7, 2023 (the night before we leave). We go for a walk on the beach in the pitch black. There are teeny boppers everywhere. We keep walking in the sand with the drift wood and I am over walking in this type of sand with Abby. So I tell Chris that Abby and I are going to walk over towards to water. He says, "wait", I say "WHAT?!" (whoops), then he finally gets on one knee and forgot how to speak. Abby saved him by saying "Erika will you marry me", then he finally knew what to say and said "Erika Christina Jaeger will you marry me?". Then we got back to the condo and I tried to text my mom... then call her... then she finally responded and was like" what? when did that happen?" , "Mom, about 2 hours ago at this point haha, you wouldn't answer your phone" So that is the story of how we FINALLY became engaged.
