After connecting on eHarmony in February 2023, we met for the first time on April 15 at The Silo restaurant. It was tax day. Chris sure did feel taxed when he realized Erika was two inches taller than him. That’s one tall drink of water, he remembers, but I do like water. We both found our mutual love for Jesus and strong faith refreshing and encouraging. Erika knew Chris might be a keeper when he joined her for a day in Chicago to visit an art gallery and to attend a show that touched on a serious societal issue. Chris says that day brought more culture than he acquired in the last 25 years. Chris knew he found a good one when she pushed him to his limits at the gym and corrected his form on the bench press. Year 2024 kicked off with a University of Michigan Football National Championship. Erika watched more football with Chris in two years of dating than in the previous 38 years combined. Erika’s grandfather played for the Detroit Lions in the 40’s, so Chris liked Erika even more. In April 2024, we took a trip to California to celebrate Erika’s 40th birthday. Chris passed the travel test and we enjoyed road-trip adventures from running Big Sur Marathon (Erika), jumping into the freezing ocean, and taking a steam train ride through the Redwoods.
We were engaged on New Year’s Eve 2024 in front of the Christmas tree. After a long, speechless and tearful moment when Chris waited far too long on one knee, Erika said yes! Of all the moments so far, we most enjoy praying and doing works of service together. We fully trust God with our future as we seek to advance His kingdom, love His children, and make disciples of Jesus.
We are so thankful for each person invited to our wedding! We believe God brings people into our lives for a purpose. He knew what we he was doing from the beginning when he created us and when we met to become husband and wife. Love you all! We can't wait to celebrate with you! Erika and Chris
