There were many moments earlier in our lives where we could have met; sustainability courses at the University of Minnesota, working with the student organic farm, at one point Rachel's community garden even visited Eric's farm - but she happened to miss that day! Ultimately, we met in August 2016 when Rachel was looking for a new farm job and Eric was hiring at his farm. We went on our first date after Rachel finished working for Eric for the season- a beautiful late fall picnic and hike in Afton State Park. Since then we've found our home on 40 beautiful acres outside of Foreston, Minnesota, where we have been living seasonally for two years. Our relationship, love, and trust in each other has grown leaps and bounds as we have begun homesteading this farm, which only had a barn when we purchased it. We now have a camper, electricity, and hope to have a well drilled next spring. A custom tiny home is being built for us so we may live here year round. Our farm is not only home to us but also Rachel's rabbits, Gordon and Tilly, our cat, Thistle, seasonal pigs, and our newest additions, two more kittens. This land is where we live and love, and where our dreams have and will continue to come true as partners.
