We’re Getting Married!!!!!

Devin and Ericka met online thanksgiving of 2021. Luckily for Ericka, Devin was drunk at his brother’s house in North Carolina and decided to boost himself on this dating app so he will get more likes. Later that night they matched where they talked for hours before Devin passed out, the next morning she messaged him even though he didn’t think she would. They kept talking day in and day out for a few weeks, they agreed to meet on a first date at Top Golf. Ericka ended up being 45 minutes late due to traffic, but Devin stayed positive thinking he had not been ghosted. Eventually she showed up and they engaged in an awkward one arm hug, and she commented “wow you are tall and have an accent”. Once they started playing top golf, they realized how much they are alike because they are both so competitive. Ultimately, Ericka won but Devin believes he let her win because his skill level in golf far exceeded hers. After golf they sat in the car and talked for about 4 hours straight, they felt like they just knew each other. About a week later they went on their second date to Texas Roadhouse where Devin noticed that Ericka is weird and mixes food together, and Ericka noticed that Devin likes his steak extremely red. When December 12th, 2021, came around they went to get Starbucks in the morning since Ericka loves the morning; Later that night Devin asked Ericka to be his girlfriend and she happily said yes. Unfortunately, about 3 weeks later he received orders to Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX and would leave in March. Ericka told Devin she knew the risk and she wanted to make this work and so did he. In February of 2022 they went on a vacation to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. When March came around Ericka told him she was coming on the road trip with him, and they made it a nice vacation together before heading to El Paso. After the road trip Ericka had to fly back to Jersey to work and figure out a situation for school. Long distance is not an ideal situation, but they have made it work and grow stronger for one another. Ericka would make trips as much as possible through the summer of 2022. In June of 2022, Ericka found out she got into a nursing program, starting in September. The two decided in August of 2022, they spent the whole month together hanging out in New Jersey, then going to Devin’s parents’ house in Virginia, they made a road trip to Florida to meet his grandparents. Everybody fell in love with Ericka and knew she was an amazing person, with Grandpa Leach asking why Devin hasn’t proposed to her yet. They then said goodbye to the family and went on a cruise to made countless memories together. After the cruise they both had to go back to work and back to long distance where FaceTime calls became a routing. Throughout countless stressful moments they both supported each other and knew how to calm each other down. Ericka started school and would joke all the time about getting engaged because they both knew they were going to spend forever with each other. Devin had planned on proposing to her, asking her father for permission, and correlating the whole thing with both families. In December 2022, Devin flew back to Jersey to spend Christmas with her where he was going to pop the question. Ericka made a joke and gesture about getting a ring along with if she were to propose she would do it on our one year, so we didn’t have to remember another date. Devin’s parents came up to New Jersey and brought the ring. On December 12th, 2022, their 1-year mark of dating Devin proposed to Ericka when they went Christmas tree shopping and she eventually said yes after telling him to “are you serious” constantly due to complete shock. It may have only been a year to some people but for us it was more than that, we felt like we have known each other forever and have been through a lot but neither of us would trade it. Devin and Ericka have always talked about the future together, now we get to do that.
