Okay, picture this: May 7th, 2022. Or, as Erick will forever remember it: the day of the Kentucky Derby. We were set up by one of our very good friends (shoutout to you, Nick), which already meant there was pressure. The kind where you pretend you're relaxed but you know you've thought about your outfit way too hard. It was a double date at Topgolf, perfect setting for two very single and very nervous people pretending they're not nervous. There were bad swings, good swings, and mood swings (guess who). It was half "this is fun" and half "please don't let this be awkward" Spoiler alert: It was awkward. But in the very best way. The night was full of nervous laughter, nervous glances at one another, awkward pauses and trying to feel each other out. After Topgolf, the night kept going as we bounced around to a few bars, where a few drinks slowly turned our nerves into comfort. The jokes got easier and the laughing got louder. A little chaotic, very funny, and weirdly natural. Then came the "are we doing this thing?" Gina, being Gina, made the bold move and initiated the phone number exchange. Erick loved the bold, confident play that turned out to be exactly the right one. Because that small, nerve wracking exchange turned into the start of everything.
