Things To Do

We’re so excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you. Keep checking back as we'll be updating this page throughout this year leading to the big day.
National Mall and Memorial Parks Headquarters

National Mall and Memorial Parks Headquarters

900 Ohio Drive Southwest, Washington, DC 20024
, (202) 426-6841

While there is so much history to be seen just blocks away from our hotel, some of our favorites include the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and - of course - the WW2 Memorial...the very spot of Doug's proposal.

National Museum of African American History and Culture

National Museum of African American History and Culture

1400 Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560
, (844) 750-3012

Although they have not been here together, this museum remains one of Erich and Doug's favorites! If you intend to visit - which you certainly should - anticipate spending at least four hours here, as such rich history takes time to digest. The culture galleries on the top floor are not to be missed.

International Spy Museum

International Spy Museum

700 L'Enfant Plaza Southwest, Washington, DC 20024
, (202) 393-7798

From learning about international espionage to decoding secret letters, this interactive museum is great for adults and kids - and a must see on Erich and Doug's site seeing itinerary! Step into the newly renovated Spy Museum and explore multiple levels of adventure and interactive learning.

District Winery

District Winery

385 Water Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003
, (202) 484-9210

Just hours before the proposal, Erich and Doug ventured into the Navy Yard and visited District Winery, Washington, D.C.’s only operational commercial winery, for the very first time. It didn't disappoint! If you're lucky, you can book a private igloo and enjoy a slice of heaven in D.C.

John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

2700 F Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20566
, (202) 467-4600

Doug's first experience in the Kennedy Center was for his 29th birthday, when Erich surprised him with tickets to see his favorite artist - Maxwell! The Kennedy Center plays host to several Broadway tours and is home to D.C's longest running murder mystery show - Shear Madness. If you're ready to laugh from start to finish, go online and grab tickets now!
