Things To Do

Downtown Stowe

Walk and shop in the idyllic town of Stowe. Park anywhere on Main Street and explore all that downtown has to offer. We love grabbing a coffee at Black Cap Coffee & Bakery and strolling into the many cute shops.

Von Trapp Brewery + Bierhall

The Trapp family, yes the family from Sound of Music, moved to Vermont in the early 1940s. They opened a lodge paying homage to their Austrian culture. Since, they have expanded to include a farm, brewery, and outdoor center. The brewery has a large patio, fresh beer on tap, and traditional Austrian fare (think brats and schnitzel). It's a great place to grab a beer and an afternoon snack or dinner. Reservations recommended if going for dinner.

Ben & Jerry's Factory

The Ben & Jerry's factory is a short 20 minute drive from Stowe in Waterbury, VT. You can take a guided tour and even visit their notorious "flavor graveyard" where they honor all their discontinued ice cream flavors. Bonus tip, double down on the sweets and stop at Cold Hollow Cider Mill on the way for some fresh apple cider donuts.

Stowe Pinnacle Hike

Our favorite hike in Stowe! It's a moderate 3 mile hike, with panoramic views of the Green Mountains at the top. It's a 15 minute drive from Topnotch and takes about 2-3hrs round trip.

Sterling Pond Trail

A 2 mile moderate hike from the base of Stowe Mountain Resort. Only a 10 minute drive from Topnotch and about 1.5-2hrs in length

Hike Mount Mansfield

For the ~extremely~ adventurous guests who want some real adventure. This is a long and challenging hike to the top of Mount Mansfield. There are multiple routes, all of which are 5+ miles long. Eric and Monica have done this but we warn you, it is for those who want a long hike that takes the majority of the day. You can also drive to the top on the auto toll road :)

Stowe Mountain Resort Gondola

If hiking isn't your thing, you can take the Gondola up to the top of Stowe Mountain Resort. This will take you to the top of Vermont's highest mountain, Mt. Mansfield, where you can enjoy a meal at the Cliff House or a sweet treat at The Waffle.
