Lyssa and Eric finally closed on their forever home on September 17, 2022, and were anxious to move in the very same day. Once they received the keys to their home, they opened the door and stepped inside. Eric pointed out that there was a gift from their mortgage lender waiting for them on the kitchen counter. Lyssa and Eric walked over to see two champagne flutes, a bottle of champagne and a card. Eric encouraged Lyssa to do the honors of reading the card aloud. The card read, "the past year has been really, really hard on the both of us, but no matter what I never stopped believing in our future". Lyssa was puzzled because this didn't seem like something a mortgage lender would say. Lyssa continued to read, "today is the day that all of our patience paid off. I love you". Lyssa, puzzled, turn around to ask Eric what the card was about only to see him down on one knee with a ring outstretched towards her. This had not been just a gift from anyone but a proposal from Eric! Eric had planned the whole surprise using his parent's champagne flutes that they used at their wedding as a romantic, sentimental gesture. Of course, it worked and Lyssa said "Yes"! Oh, what an exciting day!
