We HIGHLY recommend bringing Pesos down and going to your bank and ordering them at least 2-3 weeks in advance. You may be able to withdraw money from ATMs with high fees, but it's easier and cheaper to pay with pesos right outta the gate (and it's so cool to walk around with a gazillion pesos in your pocket!). Eric and I brought $100 USD per day for the both of us last year, and that was beyond enough. Once you arrive, expect to tip daily with taxis, restaurants, hotel staff, etc. In reality, it's a matter of $1-5 USD (In pesos) here and there. Your first potential cost will be a taxi (unless we book you a shuttle) from HUX to your hotel. Expect to spend about 585 PESOS ($30 USD).
When you land in HUX airport, there are taxis available immediately outside of the airport- just like in the states. HERE IS A BIG TIP! When you walk outside and walk down the driveway to the gas station (a 3 minute walk), you can catch a taxi at that gas station for significantly cheaper. Expect to pay $30 USD (BUT IN PESOS! PLUS A TIP). Once you get to your destination, if you are in San Agustinillo, you will most likely walk everywhere. BUT there are taxis. So if you chose a place a bit aways or if you want to take a day trip or whatever, you can rent a bike or hop into a taxi. Please email us at ericandlorna2020@gmail.com your itinerary and we can even arrange a shuttle for those who arrive around the same time. We will happily and easily take care of this. Our host at Casa Bagus will help us take care of this and has done this many times before.
For the wedding? Beach attire, yo. Linens, cottons, and breathable clothes. Light colors. Expect 80s and 90s will mild breezes. But what you actually wear is up to you. I will be wearing a breezy white dress with no shoes (so don't wear a white dress on the 25th!) and Eric will have neutral linen pants and a white shirt on. I will be rocking a suit under my dress, because will absolutely be taking dips in the ocean. Bring sandals in a tote to take on and off as you walk around. The only warm clothes you will need are whatever you wear to the airport. You will essentially never be cold. We wore jean jackets from Chicago, but never wore them once while we were there.
Aw. You're our people. There are a handful of liquor stores in town. We will have great wine, local mezcal, margaritas, and beer at our events. It's not top shelf, but who gives a flying eff.
If you have never been to Mexico, you should expect to change your water routine. You CANNOT drink tap water or brush you teeth with it. Showering is fine, but drinking water and cooking with water and so on must be done with BOTTLED WATER. This can be easily purchased at convenient stores nearby by the gallon and will be provided at restaurants (and most hotels).
