Lauren and Eric meet at the Festival International in Lafayette, Louisiana, in 2010, when Lauren first discovered Eric's two left feet as she tried to teach him Zydeco dance moves. With a shared interest in camping, canoeing, and festivals, they became great friends, journeying on road trips to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota and many Mardi Gras celebrated in New Orleans. Their friendship blossomed into love, and now they are grateful to be able to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter of their story with you.
During the winter of 2019-2020, Lauren and Eric were determined to go skiing for the first time. Finally, in mid-February, they got our chance and, after an excruciatingly long intro session, they hit the slopes. While not expert skiers, they had a great time on the bunny slopes and slightly less fun on the bigger runs. Towards the end of the day, they found ourselves upon a ski lift which has stopped right at sunset. Eric asked Lauren if she had an extra hand and handed her a flipbook he had made with pictures of Lauren he had taken over the years (many covertly). Lauren flipped through, and when she got to the end, the last four pages had the words, "Will You Marry Me?" Eric had pulled out the ring box, which he had been carrying all day, and as he opened it up, his heart dropped because the ring wasn't in its slot! Alas, it was just in the lid! Crisis averted. After Lauren said, "Yes!" they had to quickly hop off the chair lift.
