Things To Do
1.) Hunting Island - by far one of our favorite spots in the area. There’s a historic light house at the north beach and the south beach has a fishing pier and ghost forest.
2.) Fort Fremont - Spanish-American war era historic fort on Saint Helena Island.
3.) The Penn Center - the site of the nation’s first school for formerly enslaved people. The Penn Center is part of the Reconstruction Era National Park
4.) Reconstruction Era National Park - see the other sites that make up the park. The visitor center is in Downtown Beaufort
5.) Beaufort Tree Tour - Great walking tour though historic Beaufort. ladysislandgardenclub.com/beaufort-tree-walk/
6.) Crystal Lake Park - great place to see birds and alligators
7.) Port Royal - definitely check out sands beach, the board walk, and Cypress Wetlands
8.) Bluffton and Hilton Head Island - both are a bit of a drive but there are great restaurants and thrift shops! Also, the Coastal Discover Museum is absolutely worth a visit.
