Eric first laid eyes on Kayla while she was leaving a party at a mutual friend's home. From there, months went by and with many attempts from their friend to set them up, Kayla took the first step and reached out to Eric. A few days later they went on their first date to Niagara Falls where they spent the time walking around the park and talking about anything and everything. June 24th, 2020 was the start of forever. Eric and Kayla would spend the next few months attached at the hip, hanging out at any opportunity they could. At that time, Eric would work until 11:00pm during the week, and still make time to go to Kayla's apartment, even if it meant they only hung out for an hour. Kayla's dog Penny took a quick liking to Eric. We're sure the tacos he fed her while Kayla was out at a friend's birthday dinner helped, and the many months of McDonald's french fries and Tim Hortons bagels. On August 8th, 2020, Eric asked Kayla to be his girlfriend at the sunflower fields. Without her knowing, Eric bought her a bracelet with a sunflower on it, took it out and tied it on her wrist when he asked her. On February 7th, 2025, Eric (finally) asked Kayla to marry him in the living room of their first apartment together. Kayla had walked into the door after a nail appointment, saw a trail of rose petals into the living room and Eric on one knee surrounded by a heart of rose petals with "Marry Me" in letters behind him. Due to the nerves and emotions, Eric couldn't get the words "Will you marry me" out, but through her tears and excitement, Kayla still said yes!
