December 2020 and the world was locked down. Restaurants in San Francisco had to-go cocktails and the only way to meet new people outside of your bubble was dating apps. Katina and Eric both swiped right and stalked each others Instagram. After a few weeks of texting and sending dad jokes to each other over the holidays, they finally planned a first date at Alta Plaza Park. The plan got off to a rough start with Eric staying out a bit too late the night before, and Katina showing up to the wrong park (to be fair, Lafayette Park is very close to Alta Plaza)! Eric showed off his patience early and waited for Katina to make it to the right location. After some chatting, wine was opened with Eric coming prepared with options, which Katina loved. Once settled in, they realized they had no utensils (besides Katina's pocket knife, which Eric was too scared to use) to cut the cheese and meats Eric brought. They resorted to eating some olives and polishing off both bottles of wine until the sun set. They couldn't wait to see each other again and had their second date at Ocean Beach two days later and the rest is history. Over four years later, they are living across the street from the very spot of their first date and take their dog, Cooper, on walks through Alta Plaza Park daily.
