This 4,435 acre park is full of beautiful paved and unpaved trails to walk or bike on. They have a beach with a playground, as well as kayak and paddle board rentals. Stony Creek is where Eric proposed to Katie!
Downtown Rochester has many shops, restaurants, and cafes. Try a Michigan famous coney dog at Lipuma's Coney Island, or a hamburger and milkshake at Red Knapp's with its diner-fashioned seating. Take a walk on the Paint Creek Trail, which leads to Rochester Municipal Park. Eric and Katie's first date was Downtown Rochester at Cafe 316!
Downtown Clarkston has many shops and great places to eat. Try Clarkston Union's famous mac and cheese or check out Honchos for some tacos.
Somerset is a shopping mall with more than 180 retailers, including specialty retailers such as Nike, Lululemon, and Vuori, as well as luxury brands including Dior, Prada, and Hermes.
If you are extending your trip and looking for other places to go in Michigan, consider checking out a city up north. Traverse City (215 miles, 3.5 hour drive) is a scenic lakeside destination with gorgeous beaches, a family friendly downtown, and nearby wineries located at the base of Leelanau Peninsula. Holland (160 miles, 2.5 hour drive) has a small Dutch-inspired town with great dining and stunning sunsets on Lake Michigan. Mackinac Island (260 miles, 4.25 hour drive) is a car-free island with opportunities to rent bikes, check out fudge shops, historic forts, and enjoy the Great Lakes. Sleeping Bear Dunes (230 miles, 4 hours) is a national lakeshore with massive sand dunes overlooking Lake Michigan. South Haven (190 miles, 3 hours) is a charming beach town located on Lake Michigan.
