Each year, Eric and I celebrate our birthdays together the weekend in between them since they are only 8 days apart. For our 2020 birthday, Eric planned a trip to Arcadia Bluffs for us, one of our favorite places. We spent the first day there golfing at the South Course, relaxed and had a great dinner at the hotel. Our second day, we had plans to golf the Bluffs Course. During our round, he had informed the other golfers and caddies with us what his plans were. Unsurprisingly, he didn't play his best round of his life - but I, obliviously unaware of what was coming, did. The caddies kept the clubhouse updated on our whereabouts, so our friends and family who were waiting for us, knew when we were going to arrive back. We finished up the 18th hole, shook the other golfers hands, then Eric turned to me, got on one knee and proposed. As I said yes, our friends and family came out from the private room Eric had reserved for us and cheered for us. We celebrated the rest of the night with our closest people, it was truly one of the best days of our lives. All his planning and efforts made me realize (among the million other things) how lucky I am to spend forever with him.
