The Russian colony, established in 1826-1827 at Frederick William II’s request to honor Czar Alexander I, comprises twelve farmsteads, an overseer’s house with a hippodrome design, a chapel on chapel hill, and a royal cottage with a tea room. Glasovo village, created in 1815 by Czar Alexander I in Pavlovsk park, inspired its unique architectural style, with construction overseen by Captain Snethlage and site planning by garden director Peter Joseph Lenné.
