Sophomore year of high school, Eric and Janine shared a chemistry class but at different times. They had a lab report due, so, naturally, everyone was on Facebook discussing answers and comparing notes. Eric asked Janine for help on a question but she was stuck on the previous question. Therefore, Eric helped her figure out her math. He stayed up until four o'clock in the morning to help her with her report. Considering that sleep is one of Janine's top priorities, she was stunned by his sacrifice. After many glances, smiles, and giggles, Janine decided it was time to make her move. Janine messaged Eric on Facebook and got his number so that they could text. Now, eleven years later, we all get to celebrate that one night.

Eric took Janine on a surprise trip to Lake Placid. There was still some ice on Mirror Lake and just a touch of snow. The morning after their arrival, they went for a hike. They decided that they would skip breakfast until the hike was over and hiked along Heart Lake and up some precarious rocks. Once they reached the summit, Janine admired the gorgeous view. Eric said, "Hey, Janine?" and thinking that he was going to ask her if she wanted a granola bar, she replied "Yes, babe?" She then turned around and he was on one knee. After his proposal and her acceptance, Janine was so delighted and exclaimed "On top of a mountain?!"
