I met Hutch on August 11, 2013 by way of Virginia State University Trojan Explosion Band Camp. We would go on to have one class together throughout our time a VSU- Psychology while we were both on “journeys”. Hutch would later become my brother in Phi Mu Alpha and alas not only is he my brother and friend he’s also someone who’s been along the ride that I call my musical journey and been supportive every step of the way. One Thanksgiving , Hutch let me know last minute. (The day of) that he would be coming down to Charlotte for a Friendsgiving where he introduced me to his lovely wife, my Cancer sister, Jamesa and that’s the story of how I met Urric and Jameser.

Dijon here, Hutch and I have been line brothers since 2016 but he's been my brother for over a decade at this point. Meeting on day 1 of college band camp, ( @Deondre Carter he wasn't on oovoo with us back in the day) Hutch has easily become one of my closes friends and confidant. It has been a privilege and pleasure to grow from a teen to a man alongside Hutch and witnessing his personal journey into manhood never ceases to inspire me. The union between Hutch and Jamesa is another journey that I am certain will inspire us all.

I know the bride because we both decided to join Sigma Gamma Rio Sorority Inc and fortunately we became line sisters. When I first met Jamesa in 2017, we were at an interest meeting doing karaoke, and she sung “Killing me Softly” and killed it! I have so many great memories with you, Jamesa and here’s to the biggest one yet! You’re getting married! 💍 I know the groom because of Jamesa of course, however I cannot forget how nervous Eric was to propose to and how I never could say anything to her! Every time i saw Eric, he talked about how he wanted to propose, the ring, where he wanted to do it at, etc but my lips were sealed 😂. And look, he got it right! Me and Jamesa have been going to the same school since elementary but it wasn’t until high school and dating Lemaj that we actually became friends. When I realized you were his best friend, you and I instantly just clung to each other and didn’t let go! We just got closer and closer and now ima bridesmaid 💃🏾 Eric is just a pure soul and we bonded through knowing the words to hip hop throwbacks lol 😂

I do know that me and Jamesa didn't like each other at first and were forced to be friends because we were neighbors but look at us now we can't be separated. From being in elementary school teaching each other new dance moves to moving into our first apartment together becoming roommates, Jamesa and I have had our share of memories. We have had our fights, dried each other’s tears, but we have mainly laughed and laughed some more. Jamesa is a once in a lifetime kind of friend , because once in a lifetime will you come across a friend that will do anything for you and have your back through and through. I am grateful to have such an outspoken, strong willed, kind, and humbled woman to call my friend. Words can’t express how happy I am that she’s found her person! I’m so proud of her! Mesa is my line sister, friend, mentor and fellow goofball all in one. I have never met someone so welcoming, to the point where me and her dad have heart to hearts! She’s welcomed me into her family, to her friends and home. I can say without hesitation Jamesa has been there for me in every way I can think of since I met her. Oh and Eric… just as kind, fun and loving as her. He is what we call a rare sight nowadays. He’s shown the clear intent to not only love Mesa but be the man she’s been looking for. Eric and I go way back to our days at VSU, and our bond grew stronger as we started our professional journeys as teachers together at Meadowbrook High School. We’ve shared countless experiences while running laps in this marathon of life. I’m proud to call Eric my brother, and I couldn’t be more proud of him for this next stage. From those 4 years in high school and then choosing the same college to further our education with music, to DRIVING TO MINNESOTA to help us move, it’s been an honor to share those moments and be able to call him my brother.
