A fun friend trip for Hannah, unexpectedly changed her life. While in Vegas with her best friend, Hannah decided to see what Vegas had to offer on the online dating front. Scrolling through Bumble, she came across Eric’s profile. Not totally impressed with his one selfie and power line pictures, she swiped right and sent a message anyway. Immediately, she didn’t regret her decision. The conversation was light and airy and they decided to meet the next day, but only with the okay from her bestie. Eric was working in Las Vegas. His long work days and constant moving put a damper on his dating life. Luckily, this out-of-towner was a travel nurse and it might work out. He somehow found time to meet up. A knock on the hotel door, and there he was. They set off walking and passed a wedding chapel and they joked about eloping. They continued down to Fremont Street, the conversation flowed effortlessly and they were holding hands before they knew it. They discovered that their careers had many parallels- both traveling being the highlight. Hannah’s friends in the periphery gave the nod of approval. The night continued to a speakeasy under the mob museum. They were all of a sudden in another world, another time enjoying the live music and specialty cocktails. The city that never sleeps, seemed to slow down that night. They shared their first kiss. That evening started it all. A few days later, Eric and Hannah spent the majority of the day together. Eric gave Hannah a personal tour of Vegas. They went to Top Golf, played pool, and ended the day with a helicopter tour over the city. Eric dropped Hannah off at the airport and shared a final kiss despite knowing if they’d see each other again.
Eric and Hannah continued to text everyday. Hannah was back in North Carolina finishing a contract. And Eric was coming up on his one year mark in Vegas and was going to be reassigned to a new location by his apprenticeship. Hannah decided to find her next contract somewhere near Eric’s next assignment. They thought they might be crazy, but justified the big decision by both being independent working people. They could choose to see each other or not, no pressure. Eric soon found out he would be sent to Jackson, CA. So Hannah found a contract in Grass Valley, CA. She completely changed her original plans of going to the New England area for the summer. As a hopeless romantic, she packed up the Prius and drove 2500 miles to a guy she met in Vegas. They finally met up again and 3 days later were officially dating. Awe struck and in love, it was the easiest and best decision they’ve ever made.
Hannah invited Eric to TravCon in Las Vegas. Two days before the trip, Eric decided this was the perfect time and place to propose. Meet in Vegas, propose in Vegas. It was the perfect plan! They drove separate vehicles to the airport. This gave Eric the chance to call Hannah’s parents and he asked for their blessing. With their approval, the plan was in motion. Once in Vegas, Eric was on the hunt for a ring. He found a shop in the hotel! Can’t get any easier. Eric knew he wanted to propose on top of the Strat overlooking the city. When Hannah’s cousin suggested we go to the Mind Games show at the Strat, Eric couldn’t believe it was coming together so nicely. It was a Sunday, they started the day at the shooting range with Eric’s friend. Then had the best tacos for lunch. Hannah headed to a pool party (this was when Eric buys the ring) and he met up with her later. Then off to the Mind Reading show at the Strat. Hannah got called up on stage and Eric was thrilled it wasn’t him, afraid this bloke would somehow ruin the upcoming surprise! Eric and Hannah went up to the observation deck. They took pictures and enjoyed the view. The sun began to set and the city lights started to shine as it got darker. Eric suggested they have someone take their picture. Hannah happily agreed and handed her phone over to a stranger to capture the image. Pictures were snapped and the phone was about to be handed back when Eric said, “Take one more picture!” And he got down on one knee! Hannah was in shock. She had no idea how he pulled this off. “Will you marry me?” “Yes!”
