Camellias was one of the places we went to the night my mom met Eric for the first time. In fact, the booth where Eric proposed was the exact same one we had sat in that night! It will always hold a special place in our hearts for many reasons - they serve high tea, pink champagne, and it's the place we got engaged. It's first come, first serve seating so I recommend getting there early for a table. Cheers!
Our favorite beach spot in Charleston! My family has been going to Sullivan's Island every summer since I was little. It has a cute beach town vibe, and is neighbor to Isle of Palms. It also has an adorable lighthouse that's a trademark of the island. Enjoy beach time, shopping, and great food!
One of our favorite and timeless restaurants - Poe's Tavern on Sullivan's Island! The perfect spot to grab an iced tea after laying on the beach. More importantly, the burgers are AMAZING. The restaurant is inspired by the life of Edgar Allen Poe, so don't be surprised if a raven tries to steal your food!
The BEST fried seafood in town! If you're up for a little bit of a drive, Bowen's seafood is a staple when it comes to satisfying your fried seafood craving. If fried isn't your thing, they also have oysters in season and boiled shrimp. Make sure to plan to arrive before sunset - the restaurant is situated on the marsh of Bowen's Island and the sunsets are beautiful!
One of my favorite historic homes in Charleston! It's located right next to First Scots Presbyterian, which is where the wedding ceremony will be held. There's so many beautiful historic homes that are open to the public for tours, and it's always one of our favorite things to do when we're here! If you're interested in touring more homes, check out this link: https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/best-historic-house-tours-in-charleston.
The cutest little restaurant in a historical home downtown. It has the best food - with a menu that changes daily. Eric and I have spent many date nights here celebrating different occassions. Book your reservation early! It's very popular with limited availability.
Have you ever wanted to tour an aircraft carrier? Look at a bunch of old military planes? Here's your chance! At Patriot's Point you can take a helicopter tour of Charleston, tour the USS Yorktown, and even go into a submarine.
Looking for a place with spectacular views & booze? Definitely visit the Citrus Club on the rooftop of The Dewberry. It's theme is you guessed it...citrus! It's the best rooftop bar in all of Charleston, and the perfect place to wind down with a drink and take in the Charleston skyline. It's first come, first serve, so make sure you get there early for a table!
Another beautiful historic home to tour! This house was built in 1772 for Thomas Heyward, Jr., a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and was used as a private hotel for President George Washington during his weeklong visit to Charleston in 1791. Worth a visit!
Recently recommended to me as a great place to go for a walking tour of Charleston. Highly recommend spending some time walking Charleston with a tour guide, the city is know for its architecture, history, and even ghosts!
Beautiful place to watch the sunset, take pictures of the skyline of Charleston, run along the water, or just relax. Down the street is "Old Mt. Pleasant", which is cute area of old homes and shops to walk around. Apparently this was Eric's backup proposal location ;)
If you're ever wondering where to find Eric & me on a Friday night, it's probably here. It's a small restaurant located inside of my parent's neighborhood, I'On just on the other side of the bridge in Mt. Pleasant. It has a charming community feel (hence the name), crafty cocktails, and POPOVERS! Need I say more?!
Feeling up for a challenge?! Want to see beautiful views of Charleston? Look no further than CHS Flight School! They offer discovery flights where you can go up in a plane with an instructor and live out your piloting dreams. Eric & I both have taken lessons and rent their planes when in town, and it's an incredible experience. One of our favorite activities to do while in Charleston!
Rainbow Row is a series of 13 brightly-colored houses along East Bay Street on the Charleston Harbor. In the 18th century, these homes were shops and businesses on the lower level with living quarters above. An iconic Charleston attraction!
The BEST cocktails! We went recently by recommendation, and this cocktail bar with a speakeasy vibe did not disappoint. Great place to grab a couple of drinks before dinner, or decompress after a long day. Make sure to ring the doorbell at the door in the very back, you'll be glad you did ;)
