Valentine’s Day 2024 started just like any other day. Eric was more nonchalant than usual, simply telling me we had plans but keeping the details under wraps. The only clue I got was what time to be ready by. After working that day, I rushed home to get dressed—choosing a red leather skirt, an off-white ruffle sleeve top, and matching red leather open-toe heels, thinking it was perfect for a romantic Valentine’s dinner. We snapped a few photos before heading out the door, and on the way, Eric revealed our destination: dinner at Drafthouse. I remember thinking, “Oh, really?” Eric is usually the king of thoughtful plans, so it caught me a little off guard, but I didn’t think too much of it. Then, as we drove, Eric got a call from the framer working on our new house, saying he needed Eric to check something before a big install the next day. Eric hesitated, torn between dinner and the house, but casually asked if I minded making a quick stop. Knowing how excited we both were about the house, I didn’t think twice—I was happy to swing by. When we arrived, Eric helped me navigate the rock driveway in my heels, and as we walked into the garage, he flipped a switch. Instantly, the entire house was glowing with strings of café lights, twinkling like magic. It was beautiful. My heart skipped a beat when I noticed a perfectly arranged setup where our future dining table would be—a cozy igloo with a card table, draped in red linens, and decorated for Valentine’s Day. I was absolutely smitten! Eric seated me at the table and pulled out a chilled bottle of Veuve Clicquot. I could tell something was different—he was quieter than usual, a little nervous, but we chatted and laughed. Then suddenly, headlights appeared in the distance. It was strange, since we were the only house on the street. To my surprise, a chef walked through the door, carrying a silver platter with two beautifully prepared dinners. It was beyond special—and delicious! We were enjoying the moment when, once again, headlights appeared. This time, though, it was the police! Turns out, one of our future neighbors spotted unusual activity at the house and called the cops. We had to laugh—at least we know we’re moving into a safe neighborhood! Eric, always calm, handled it like a pro, and luckily wasn’t whisked away. As the night continued, Eric stood up, took my hand, and before I knew it, he was down on one knee, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. Of course, I said yes! He thought of everything—even inviting my son Ashton and my mom to join us for a celebratory toast. It was the most magical, unforgettable night. And yes, the ring was absolutely beautiful, too! 💍
