The Old Louisiana State Capital
The Old Louisiana State Capitol was one of Yana's favorite places to visit when she was younger. It's definitely worth a visit if you enjoy a bit of history! But, to be honest, she mostly wanted to go because of the stunning stained glass! (Free Admission)
Tony's Seafood
The best place for boudin links or boudin balls! If you trust the happy couple, always go for the Cajun or Shrimp & Crab Balls—they're delicious! They also offer to-go lunch and dinner :)
BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center
Enjoy the Swamp Nature Center, a beautiful spot for a peaceful walk while taking in the soothing sounds of birds. Along the trail, you might spot foxes, rabbits, turtles, and perhaps even a snake or two (be careful!). Don’t forget to grab a trail map! ($3.00 per person)
Hilltop Arboretum
The spot where he proposed! It’s a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a mini picnic, featuring a lovely meadow with autumn wildflowers and tall grass. The perfect setting for an outing, a romantic date, or even a proposal~! (Free Admission)
Sammy's Grill Highland
We tried this place and have never looked back! We absolutely love Sammy's—the Fried Cheese is a must-try, and the Po'boys are always a great choice. Yana's go-to order is the Grilled Chicken Club, and Eric’s is the Fried Catfish Po'boy!
Mike the Tiger's Habitat
Go see Mike! If you're in town, he’d love the company. Who wouldn’t want to see a tiger on a college campus? Fun fact: Yana didn’t realize she was near the tiger habitat her first day living on campus until she heard him growl nearby—uh oh! (Admission is free!)
Roul's Deli
Welcome to Baton Rouge! Don’t leave without trying Roul’s—the BEST burgers in town. Seriously, everything is delicious. Yana’s go-to is the Shrimp Burger with pepper jack cheese, and Eric’s is the Seafood Burger, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. You’re on campus to see Mike, so you might as well stop by!
