Our song

Thank God for dating apps and second chances

As we both swiped right on what we thought might have been nothing, conversation grew over who we most connected with on parks and rec, our love for dogs, and our desire to travel. We met for an afternoon drink in January 2019, and what we thought might be an hour, turned into seven hours of laughter, conversation, and connection. While life caused our relationship to pause in 2019, the connection and desire for each other never wavered. As luck would have it, Ashlie shot Eric a text after his trip to Thailand in December 2019 and it was off to the races from there. When we met for a drink in January 2020, we did not miss a beat and instanalty picked up where we left off. As our relationship grew, so did Covid which caused us to make harder decisions than we would've expected early in our relationship. As the world shut down, we decided to stay put in NYC and decided it was now or never to learn if this was our future. We made the right choice and were able to learn more about each other in a few short months than we could've hoped for in a year. Laughing, cooking, working through food shortages and multiple Costco orders in the same day, we formed a base of our relationship that has been the foundation of where we stand. Communicating through Covid and locked in a 600 square foot apartment kicked off what would become each others best friends. As we moved into a new apartment together in June 2020, signing a lease and working through the world re-opening during covid, our relationship strengthened due to taking on the whole 30 diet challenge. As we both learned more about each others strengths and weaknesses, we decided that the next decision ahead of meeting each others family was to get a dog......and what a decision that was. Remy - for those that haven't met Remy, you will - he will be at the wedding with the biggest smile on his face, asking for scratches and all around being the best boy. Getting a puppy together brought us closer and helped define our parenting skills as we each found areas of focus with Remy. Remy and Eric have their routine, and we mean routine. Each morning Eric and Remy wake up at the same time, walk out of the bedrom together and then lie on the floor for morning cuddles...every morning. Then they go outside for their morning walk, come back and Eric makes Remy breakfast and Ashlie her coffee. Remy then proceeds to get morning cuddles from Ashlie, followed by the normal game of fetch for treats and the daily training schedule. Through the ups and downs of 2019, Covid, moving/buying/renovating, Remy and travel, we have become best friends who can sense when the other person needs help, work as a team in both daily life and taking care of Remy, how to travel and make the best of any situation, and communicate above all else.
