While not really paying attention, Alex must have swiped-right on Eric. Although reluctant, the sparks began to fly as they bonded over their mutual affection for Busch Light and the outdoors. Eric laid the charm on thick, crafting some of the most masterful pickup lines the world had seen. The first date was set. Eric insisted he be a gentleman and pick her up before learning she still lived at home. Nerves ran high at the thought of meeting her father before he ever met her; he wasn't there. Dinner was at Fireworks. He had the fish tacos (great first-date call) and she had the salad. Being the lady she is, it only took her twenty minutes to flip him off at the table in public. All aside, the night was going great. After dinner, Eric suggested they go for a ride. What started with a "omg he might murder me" vibe, ended with a bouquet of flowers and a cornfield full of fireflies. The rest is history...

It was a Sunday. Eric coaxed Alex out of the house with promise of drinks and appetizers. The most difficult part of the plan was convincing Alex there was nothing going on, "but, you know, don't dress like a slob". After a wonderful afternoon at Granite City, Eric somehow convinced Alex to go on a walk around Holmes Lake (she was in heels). As they were admiring the beautiful fall trees, he took a knee. Speechless, and after the tears had stopped, she finally said YES. Having told Alex he had a bottle of champagne stashed at his house for them, they headed there to celebrate before calling their parents. Little did she know they were already there. As they pulled into the driveway, she realized his house was filled with their closest friends and family, there to celebrate the beginning of what will be a beautiful life together.
