Will there be a welcoming event?

**EDIT** So glad you asked! Yes! The place we were thinking of in Topton does not open until April... you see the problem... So, the welcoming event will NOW be in Franklin at a restaurant called "Gracious Plates on Main." We welcome any and all that want to join us on Saturday. We have reservations for 18-25 people beginning at 4pm. Dinner is dutch that night. :) Remember that Franklin is about an hour from Nantahala, so no pressure if you wanna pass on that event! We want you to enjoy your time in NC and we will see you at the wedding!

What time (and dress code) is the Welcome Event?
Answer
The welcome event will go from 4 to apx 6 pm on Saturday March 22, 2025. Reservation is under Andi Tomassi :) Feel free to wear jeans and a nice top if you like. Be warm and comfortable!

What is the attire for the wedding?
Answer
It's probably going to be cold. Semi-formal attire is preferred but it is an outdoor wedding so dress accordingly.

Can the restaurant accommodate a food allergy for the reception?
Answer
Yes! Especially nuts and gluten, but if you have any Food Allergies, please let us know (ahead of time) meaning...ASAP... by texting Andi or Eric so we can make arrangements with The Slanted Window.

What will be served at the reception?
Answer
Reception is our treat! It will be in Franklin (down the mountain) at a spot called "The Slanted Window." We'll have an open bar and a selection of tasty tidbits including: Appetizers Charcuterie board Tomato Basil Soup: tomato, parmesan, herbs, and cheese (upon request) Fig Tarts: black mission fig, brie, manchego, and a honey drizzle Sandwiches Grilled Cheese Sandwiches: muenster, swiss, pepper-jack, provolone, spicy mayo Reuben Sandwiches: corned beef, swiss, sauerkraut, 1000 island, marble rye Cuban Sandwiches: ham, pork, swiss, pickle, dijonnaise Salad Beet with Grilled Chicken: roasted beets, citrus segments, goat cheese crumble, tender greens, walnuts, lemon vinaigrette Flatbreads Classic: prosciutto, black mission fig, fresh mozzarella, marinara, greens, balsamic glaze The Frank: ham, bacon, fresh mozzarella, marinara Pulled Pork: smoked pulled pork, fresh mozzarella, pickled red onion, fig BBQ sauce Meatball: beef and pork Italian style meatballs, provolone, mozzarella, roasted red pepper, basil

Will there be an Open Bar at the reception?

Yes! The Slanted Window has a selection of mostly Bourbon and Whiskey, but they also offer Vodka, and Rum. All liquor is from North Carolina. They also make their own wine, and it will be available at the wedding as well!

What is the attire for the reception?
Answer
Come as you are, straight from the wedding! OR... If you'd like to change after the wedding into something more dressy-casual, you will have plenty of time. We just want to frolic with you!

Will there be a band at the reception?

**Edit** There Was going to be a band but Slanted Window has decided to close to the public to host our party! That means we will be playing from a playlist. If you have any song suggestions, send them to AndI or Eric!

What time is the reception?
Answer
The reception (open bar and catering) will go from 7-9 pm on Sunday, March 23, 2025 in Franklin... but if you get there earlier, the appetizers and open bar will be available to you starting at 6pm! Dinner will be served (buffet style) at 730pm.

How long does it take to get down the mountain into Franklin for the reception?
Answer
Travel time is about 45 minutes to an hour but the scenery is gorgeous! We will also have a shuttle to bring us to and from the reception, so you won't have to worry about driving if you are staying in Topton!

What will the weather be like while we are there?
Answer
Come prepared for anything. Could be chilly!!!! Might be snowing??? Maybe rain... We just don't know. We are covering our bases by expecting the unexpected. This excerpt is from the Nantahala Wedding Venue site: "Nantahala Weather in March March is probably the most all-around unpredictable and variable month in Nantahala. March daytime highs may get into the 60s while nights drop below freezing. Flurries or snow showers may briefly whiten the lowlands, and the mountain tops are often snow-covered. Snowflakes in March tend to be very large, so large that you can see the iconic crystalline snowflake form if you catch one on your mitten." As we get more info, we will update you! If it rains, we will be in a covered pavilion for the ceremony. If you 'd like to check the weather closer to the wedding date, the location is "Nantahala Wedding venue" in Topton, North Carolina. Oh, and... the RECEPTION is indoors in Franklin, so you won't have to worry about snow/rain once you are there! <3

There are plenty or AirBNB options near the wedding venue. Some of our guests are also staying in Franklin at the Hampton Inn . Just keep in mind that it is about 45min - 1 hr travel time to and from Franklin. Yes! :) Super important first thought: For those staying in TOPTON only, there will be a shuttle to take you to and from the ceremony to the reception. I'll let you know which shuttle you are on. Please make sure to adhere to the pick up and drop off times because there is NO UBER or LYFT in Topton/Franklin! (And I'm done using all caps now.) :) Also, Smoking: Permitted in designated areas around the cigarette disposal bins. PLEASE dispose of your butts in these bins! Think of Smokey the Bear and remember that 90% of wildfires are caused by human negligence. Walking Shoes to Chapel in the Sky (Ceremony site): Wear good shoes- this is a mountain wedding and you'll have to work for the view! Consider bringing walking shoes (maybe sneakers or Birkenstocks) in addition to your photo shoes/heels to change into! Wedges are manageable for hill walking. Rules/Guidelines: Noartificial confetti or silk flower petals. Dogs are welcome at the ceremony site, but only bring them inside if you have indicated pets on your reservations. No open flames unless they are enclosed in hurricane lamps. No Chinese lanterns. We don't want to start a wildfire! Alcohol for Elopements: No alcohol at the ceremony. Alcohol will be present and available at the reception. :)
