Her Side of How They Met

8.25.2018

Around August 2018 I was in a place in life to look for someone serious. I tried OkCupid since it's a more serious dating app. Matt's profile was a little empty, but he was so easy to talk to. He asked me for a date after a week of ap messaging. His birthday was coming up, and he was going to a festival I worked for years. I took a souvenir flask and filled it with scotch as an early birthday present for him The plan was drinks, Uber to an art museum, and drunkenly analyze the art. However, we talked for 4 hours over tapioca, and 3 over drinks at the bar before we realized the art museum was closed, and we both wanted the science museum. The night evolved into fact competitions, buzzed flexing our muscles, karaoke, me almost fighting someone, and Matt asking me out 3-5 times thinking it was the first time each time. I gave him a bottle of Pedialyte before saying goodbye. The next day he was going to meet my parents before we went to NASA. He was all proper, reserved, and nervous until dad asked him if he wanted scotch. “OH HELL YEAH!” is what came out of his mouth following “I mean, yes please!”. After busting a gut dad grabbed the scotch and thought out loud "I didn't think I drank this much already"...My poker face was perfect While on our New Year's trip to Washington D.C. we got souvenir library cards from the Library of Congress. Walking into the rotunda he got down on one knee and proposed. He's more emotional and brings that out of me. Where I struggle with patience, he compensates. When I'm spiraling in analytics, he simplifies. He can handle my sass and sees potential in all my flaws.

His Side of How They Met

09.01.2018

Having recently been honarably discharged from the military, Matt finally had time to get into a relationship. He decided to give okcupid a try and came across Erica's profile soon after. He saw a girl who was articulate, sassy, swole, and by her job description, smarter than him. All of these qualities were things he wished to see in a girl, so he had to investigate. He sent her a "super cool" first message, and after a weeks' worth of sending chapters of text messages back and forth, he decided to ask her out on a date. She suggested tapioca, and he was swooned. They planned on meeting for tapioca, and visting an Art meuseum. 4 hours of drinking tapioca, and one closed art museum later, they decided for a night on the town. This led to sharing facts about science, space, politics, and the realization that they both hated art museums. He knew he found someone special, and asked her to be his girlfriend that night. He is a light weight in regards to alcohol, so he asked her to be his girlfriend 4 or 5 times that night, each time meaning it as much as the first. He knew much sooner than he'd like to admint, that she'd be the girl he will marry. After an amazing year filled with adventure, frustrations, almost constant laughing, and him realzing how much of a better man she has helped him become, he prososed to her on December 30th, 2019 in Washington D.C. at the Library of Congress. Somehow she still wants to marry him, he attributes this to qurantine leaving her no choice, and thats just fine. We are very excited for this important day in our lives, we have found our best friend in each other, and we cant wait for all of you to share this day with us. Come hungry, and ready to bust out your best dance moves!
