"When Did You Fall" by Chris Rice

The beginning of us! December 30, 2011

Although we first met on September 18, 2010, at a Jeremy Camp concert at Six Flags, the story of us officially began during the fall of 2011. Ericah's family was going through a challenging season and was encouraged to visit RJ's church. During that time, we built a friendship that grew as RJ became a support for Ericah during her difficult season. During the New Years' Eve Party on December 30, 2011, members of the church learned that Ericah could sing, and they encouraged us to sing the song "Through it all" together during the celebration. Many of the members cheered and joked that we looked good together, little did they know that that night we confessed our feelings and started dating :). Although it took about two more years, RJ asked for the blessing of Ericah's parents to date on September 4, 2013 and officially asked her out that day right at church where it all began.

"Through the Years" by Kenny Rogers

Our journey in a nutshell: December 2011 - December 2020!

It's been such an incredible adventure together! We've experienced so much of life together! From so many moments of achievements like high school, college, graduate, and nursing school graduations to other moments of thrill and excitement performing on stages like Carnegie Hall and Radio City, we have been teammates and partners through it all! Every moment including the movie nights, bike rides, three mile runs, outdoor picnics, and travel adventures throughout the world has been the best days! Even the most painful and challenging moments in our relationship, God was our rock, our foundation that held us together. He has shown us the miracle of friendship and grace. Our testimony and story throughout the years is where it is today by the grace and mercy of Jesus!

"Can I Spend the Day with You" by Sam Ock

Our Firsts!

Our favorite days are the ones spent together! Our first time leading worship together- On November 2012, Ericah and I lead worship together for one of JLOG's worship nights. Our First Trip- In May 2014, Ericah and RJ went with RJ's family on a cruise to Bermuda to celebrate God's faithfulness as it was 1 year since Mama Cora went to be with Jesus. Our first trip abroad- Summer 2014, Ericah and RJ went to the Philippines with the Ligsay clan to celebrate Ericah's Lola and mom's surprise birthdays. Our first trip to Disney together- Summer of 2015, we went to Disney World and Universal Studios. Our first time singing on a secular stage- In April 2018, we opened for the OPM Hitmakers of the Philippines, and that became the start of even more wonderful events with amazing people we consider our family. Our first trip to South America- In May 2018, we went to Cartagena, Colombia for a DreamTrip. Our first trip to Europe- On Aug. 2018, we went to Paris and London for Ericah's cousin's wedding, Disneyland, and to sight-see. Since then, it has been a ripple effect of GREAT things that God had in store for us. We continued to lead worship, travel all around the world, sing in many places both secular and sacred, chase our dreams in the professional world, and follow God's perfect plan together.

The Proposal: February 29, 2020

Ericah's POV: RJ had plans for us to meet my parents in the city for my birthday dinner! I started getting suspicious at the Liberty Harbor Marina, but he was good at covering it up! The captain told us that we were expecting another couple which made me doubt that he would propose! We got on the boat, and the captain "got a call" from the other couple that they would not make it! I was thrilled that it would be a nice private cruise for RJ and I! As we approached the Brooklyn Bridge, RJ and I headed out to the deck to take a picture. Our song, "Through the Years" began playing. It was then at 4:30 PM when RJ got down on one knee and asked! I couldn't stop crying! I was literally FLOATING on a cloud! God had answered my prayers and had done a miracle! We cruised for another hour before heading back to my house where all our closest family (even my sister from Cali) and friends surprised me! It was a DREAM! It was a MIRACLE :) RJ's POV: This has been the day I was praying for my entire life. To ask the woman God has created for me, to marry me and spend eternity by my side. On the 5th of January, I had asked for my father's blessing to marry the woman of my dreams and I asked Ericah's parents for their blessing to marry their beautiful daughter. Thankfully, everyone, including our siblings, was extremely happy for us and all of them were on board to plan the big surprise. We both LOVE cruising so I found Sail Away NYC to make that picture-perfect proposal happen. The day started out perfectly. I planned to take Ericah out nice and early so her parents and our wonderful close family friends could prepare the house for the surprise celebration that was going to happen later in the evening. It also gave her sister time to get situated as she flew all the way from California to be there for the surprise. We went for brunch, the Spa, and then we traveled to Jersey City to board the sunset proposal cruise in NYC. It literally couldn't be more perfect! She said YES!
