Question

What super awesome celestial event occurs the day of your wedding and how can I prepare?

Answer

There is an annular solar eclipse occurring on 10/14 at approximately 11:52am (depending on where you are at the time). This is an eclipse in which the moon’s shadow does not fully cover the sun but leaves a ring around it. Austin is not in the path of totality but pretty close to it. In Austin only half of the ring will be visible (the sun will look like a small sliver of a crescent with the moon’s shadow in front of it). During the time of the eclipse, eclipse glasses are needed as it is VERY dangerous to look at the sky/sun without them. Eclipse glasses can be purchased on the internet/Amazon. While we will not yet be gathered to view the eclipse together, we will be viewing it with the wedding party and some of our family. Please join in from where you are by purchasing/making glasses and gazing towards the sky!

What should I wear?

Answer

Think funky formal, extravagant fanciness, glammy whammy with some whimsy. What has you feelin' good, feelin' fresh, feelin' fine? And, no stress, cocktail attire will have you groovin’ too!

Where is the wedding?

Answer

The wedding is at a local co-op tucked into a neighborhood close to the city. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors. The reception will be inside. There will be a few outdoor evening activities.

What is the best way to get to and from the Reception venue (VUKA)? Where do I park?

Answer

**Please do not park in the small lot directly in front of the venue as these spaces are reserved! If a close parking spot is needed, please contact us at (630) 440-7623 to request this.** We recommend taking Uber/Lyft or carpooling to and from the venue. Vuka does have several parking options. Guest can utilize the Vuka guest lot @ 1619 S 1st St, Austin, TX 78704, Fresa's lot, or park in the paid Picnik garage parking. If you'd like to drive and park your car in the Vuka lot, you are able to leave your car until 10am the next day. Please be advised they do not have overnight security. We will have parking lot security during the event. Vuka-Bouldin Creek is located on the edge of a residential neighborhood and much of the street parking is not permitted. We recommend parking in the 1619 lot, the paid Picnik garage parking, or Fresa's. We don’t want you to get a ticket! If you decide to use street parking, please read the signs carefully as parking is closely monitored. Please be aware that the parking at Fresa’s is a free lot. You will be charged a small parking fee if you prefer to park in the garage at Picnik.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 5:00pm. Please arrive between 4:30pm and 4:45pm to ensure you have time to locate the seating area and settle in.

Where's the afterparty?

Answer

We will be heading out to a concert in Austin to continue the celebration! We'd love to have all who are able join us. Location TBD.

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! We love all of the children in our lives and we'd love to have them be a part of our day. We welcome all the sounds and curiosity-fueled adventures of your little explorers during the ceremony and reception. Please be sure to include your children in your RSVP and indicate if a highchair is needed.

Are dogs welcome?

Answer

Unfortunately, sweet pups are not allowed at the venue outside of dogs participating in the ceremony. Please leave your pals at home.
