The Wedding Website of Erica Egan Barron and Ruairí Egan Barron
We know traveling to the Aran Islands can seem daunting. Here we have given step by step instructions to get you from Dublin airport to the island. If you have any questions, please reach out to us. We are so excited to see you all there and want the travel to be as stress free as possible!

Flight

Dublin International Airport

For our guests traveling internationally, we recommend flying into Dublin International Airport. You will arrive in Terminal 2 if you have a direct flight.

Travel Note

Citylink Bus

If you would like to travel directly from Dublin Airport to Galway, the most direct way to do this is on the Citylink bus. You will need to buy a ticket from Dublin Airport (either zone, pickup is at terminal 1) to Galway Coach Station. This is bus 760. You will be getting off at the 2nd stop. This journey will take about 2.5 hours.

Travel Note

FreeNow Taxi

To get from Dublin Airport to Heuston Train Station in Dublin you can get a taxi. Follow signs for Taxis inside the airport. The taxis are all labeled with a big green taxi sign on the side and often say FreeNow on them. The taxi app is called FreeNow but you can also hail these taxis without using the app. We recommend hailing a taxi and paying with cash as this will be cheaper than using the app. The app is very similar to Uber but they have a meter in each car. You can put credit or debit card information into the app to pay with a card or you can pay with cash at the end of your ride. Your destination will be Heuston station. It is about a 30 minute ride from the airport.

Travel Note

Dublin Bus

Another option to get from Dublin Airport to Heuston station is on the Dublin Bus. When you come out of the one way exit in arrivals, there is a Spar (convenience store) to your left. You will need to go to the register to buy a Leap Card (similar to a metro card). This will cost you €10 but all of that will be on the card for you to use for your travels. Follow the signs for the Ground Transport/Buses inside the airport. You will be getting the 782 bus which leaves every 15 minutes from Terminal 2 to Heuston station. This is the 6th and final stop. The ride should take about 40 minutes.

Rental Car

Dublin Airport Car Rentals

Dublin, D, Ireland

If you would prefer to drive yourself to Galway or travel around Ireland on your own a bit, there are several rental car companies in Dublin Airport. The rental car services are outside of arrivals after customs and baggage claim. Follow signs for Car Rentals. If choosing this option, you can either return the car in Galway (if the rental company you choose has this option) or you will be leaving the car in Galway for 1-3 nights as there is no car ferry to the island.

Train

Heuston Station (Dublin) to Galway

One of the easiest ways to get from Dublin to Galway is on the Irish Rail. You will be booking a ticket from Dublin Heuston to Galway. This is a great way to see the countryside on your way out to the Aran Islands.

Travel Note

Aran Islands Ferry

From Galway, you will be getting a Ferry to the island. At this time, we recommend waiting to book this as we are working on getting a group rate for ferry tickets. The journey will be from Galway Port to Inis Mór and will take 45 minutes to an hour. We will let you know on this website when we have gotten the group rate and how to book.
