Flight Recommendations, Hotels, and Travel Tips

Flight

Albany Airport

New York has multiple airports, but Albany is likely the easiest for those traveling from across the country. Directions: Take I-87 (NYS Thruway) North to Exit 19 towards NY-28/Kingston/Rhinecliff Br. Follow NY-28 West for 31 miles towards Pine Hill. Turn left onto Oliverea Rd and continue for just under 4 miles. Turn right before the "Urban Cowboy Lodge" sign onto Burnham Hollow Rd. Turn left after another Lodge sign onto Alpine Rd (this is the driveway). Distance and Time: The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. The Lodge is about 55.5 miles northeast of Albany International Airport.

Flight

Other Airport Options

✈️ Stewart International Airport (SWF) – New Windsor, NY ~1 hr 15 min drive to Big Indian Small and easy to navigate Limited direct flights, but often a quieter alternative to larger airports Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR): ~2 hr 30 min drive (can be longer with traffic) Major airport with many flight options from LAX, but lacking in Air Traffic Controllers Good if you want flexibility and don’t mind a longer drive, bad if you don't like radar outages LaGuardia (LGA) or JFK: ~2.5–3.5 hr drive If you are also spending time in NYC

Travel Note

Driving in Upstate New York

Wherever you come from, be aware that Upstate New York Police are vigilant about speed limits on the roads. Erica and Mark have been pulled over multiple times for speeding. Mostly Erica. And if they see a California Driver's License they will not be nice to you.

Travel Note

Cell Reception

If possible, try to download offline maps for the area before arriving. Cell reception is spotty at best once you get closer to the Urban Cowboy Lodge. Click below for directions on how to do this.
