A summer weekend back in 2013, Erica created an E-Harmony account. There she was in her apartment still recovering from a rigourous health journey. She came upon a very interesting profile. She liked that this guy was very close to his family and that he had a passion for science. JR was winding down in bed. He had spent the entire day helping his best friend, Jerry move to the valley. He felt a quick rush run through him as he saw someone had sent him a message. A message here, a message there. An exchange of emails, phone numbers and phone calls. Their relationship was growing stronger each day. JR took Erica on their first date to Carmike Theater in Edinburg. This was also the first time that they met in person. Their relationship became official on August 10th 2013.

It was Christmas Eve and the entire family had just finished eating dinner. It was decided that they were going to open gifts early that night. Everyone had already opened their gift except for Erica. She turns to JR and jokingly says, “What about mine?” He tells her to follow him upstairs. He made her wait in the loft and went into one of the guest bedrooms. There she stood in suspence as JR made his way out of the room. He had a small silver bag from Zales. He hands the bag to Erica. She reached into the bag and took out a small box. To which she says with tears in her eyes, “It’s not a puppy?!”. At that moment JR got down on one knee and said, “I’ve been wanting to do this a long time... Will you marry me?”. Erica and JR couldn’t hold back their tears as she said, “YES”! They both proceeded to go back to the party and make the announcement to their family. Everyone cheered and congratulated JR and Erica. It was a moment that both would never forget!
