Erica and Estaffon met in the University of South Alabama Freshman Facebook Group in 2011. They were both very active in the group, and one-day Estaffon decided to add Erica as a friend to further their conversation. After exchanging numbers, they spent most of their days texting about college and other topics from the group page. Fast forward to mid-August, they continued to keep in touch, even though they hadn’t officially met in person. Estaffon asked Erica to hang out with a few friends at the Delta Deli (OG hangout spot at USA). She contemplated meeting him because she was in the awkward "it's almost time to take down your braids" stage, but she decided to go anyway. Once they met in person, it felt like they had known each other for years. Leaving a few friends behind, they found a picnic table by the deli and talked for hours until the deli closed. A couple of days later, Estaffon asked her on a picnic date outside the Delta Deli. He was excited to splurge on his meal bucks as those were a big deal for students back then, which had Erica feeling like a kid in the candy store.
