In the spring of 2018 Erica was invited to join a Microsoft softball league by one of her friends at work. She wasn't a huge softball fan but thought it might be an opportunity to meet some new people. She ended up getting more than she bargained for. This game was the first time she met Aaron. They were introduced by a mutual friend and chatted throughout the game as they bonded over having a few nice hits. A few weeks later Aaron invited Erica to be a substitute on another softball team. However, this time it was a doubleheader! For someone who doesn't really like softball, it seemed like a big commitment but she thought it might be an opportunity to chat more with Aaron. The softball games went well, and Aaron's friends poked a little fun at him for bringing along a girl he was interested in. During the game Erica & Aaron learned they actually lived 1 block apart in Belltown, and afterwards he asked her out on a date to Some Random Bar (that's the actual name!) right by their apartments. They had their first date on July 2, 2018 almost 4 years ahead of their wedding date. The date went well and they continued exploring their passions in the outdoors together throughout the summer. A few months later Erica revealed she doesn't really like softball that much but was glad she met him because of it. They still continue playing softball together occasionally (key word occasionally for Erica) and enjoy exploring the PNW in their free time.
