I was invited to my friend's, Alex's, wedding in LA and was meant to bring a plus one. Only the plus one was my very close friend and bridesmaid, Nyrfa, and she had gotten sick. I had also missed my flight and frantically called the beautiful bride-to-be to make another game plan. I was always a last minute kind of planner but this was cutting it pretty close. Fortunately, I was able to fly into LA the next morning and spent my afternoon getting ready. I arrived to the venue and was so excited to see the future newlyweds. As I waited, I may have noticed Max enter the room. We made eye contact, but I looked away. He was very handsome and my first thought was that he looked like a Teen Wolf actor. Don't worry, I will upload a picture for context. The ceremony was beautiful and I was so happy for the newlyweds. I didn't really know anyone else at the wedding. It wasn't long before I met "Aunty Marlene" as I waited for a drink at the bar. She was so welcoming, and before I knew it, I was sitting next to her at her table. I learned that she was Alex's godmother and that she was very generous with letting the bartender be generous with the drinks. The evening carried on and as the music began to play, Aunty Marlene and I made our way to the dancefloor. After some time, she told me she was going to go sit back down and I told her I would join her. Before I moved, she responded "No you aren't!" and pushed me right into Max. He looked at me, put out his hand, and shrugged his shoulders, "Want to dance?" and I said, "Yes". Easiest yes ever, besides the yes to getting engaged, of course. I haven't let go of him since.
I spotted Erica as I entered with two buddies for the Alexs’ wedding. She threw us a look which I assumed was annoyance at our loud entry. My efforts to peek in her direction were met with a face of disgust. I now know that’s just her “I’m hot and uncomfortable” face. Thanks to an assist from Auntie Marlene, Erica fell right into my hypnotic dance moves 🕺The night was filled with great conversation and we capped it with a midnight In-n-Out run. After the long night of celebrating, I overslept my flight and was forced to rebook a new one with a totally coincidental layover in Vegas. Erica agreed to meet me for our official second date. I’m just happy we got all of our flight missing out of the way in the first 24 hours!
