We met in 2017. Torchy's Tacos was where it all began. August interviewed Erica in the summer, and from then on it was just pure chemistry. Neither of us could have imagined that within about 6 months of working together, we would soon be inseparable. We flirted for a few months but remained cautious, until August finally asked Erica out after the whole restaurant assumed we were already dating. Once the secret was out, we both quit our jobs to start dating and getting to know each other, but we could have never imagined that it would lead to spending the rest of our lives together! Thank the Lord for tacos and margaritas!
On the morning of December 4th, 2021 we woke up before dusk, drove to the Arizona desert and hopped on a hot air balloon to enjoy the gorgeous sunrise above the clouds. August and I were visiting his Family in Goodyear AZ for Christmas, and Tracey told us that we were going on a hot air balloon ride as a fun family adventure. Little did I know that August was going to ask me to spend forever with him. As we were floating in the sky, August handed me a pair of binoculars and said "what's that on the ground out there?" As I peeked through the lenses, I saw my mom and dad standing on the ground with a giant sign that said "Erica Petersen will you marry me?" As we're standing in that basket nearly 3,000 feet up in the air, I froze from excitement and pure surprise. It was the easiest yes of my life. Once we landed, and I stopped crying from joy, we enjoyed champagne and brunch in the desert together and I couldn't have imagined a more perfect proposal.
