Sandra and Eric had been exchanging emails for cookies for Eric's nephew's first birthday. The birthday was jungle-themed, and the party was bananas. That November, Eric returned to Dallas to spend Thanksgiving with his parents. He asked Sandra out for pizza, and she said yes. But the holiday soon ended, and Eric and Sandra faced the first of many decisions made together--to stay the course or to jump ship. They decided to brave the storms. Eric returned to Los Angeles, and over the next year, Sandra and Eric laid the foundation for their relationship with 1,463.9 miles between them. In 2016, Sandra joined Eric in Los Angeles. Together, they hiked mountains, forded rivers, prayed, laughed, cried, served, and learned that life is better when they are together. With the help and support of their friends and family, he tricked Sandra into thinking they were attending a wedding in Palos Verdes the weekend of Memorial Day and popped the question on May 26, 2018.
