Walking distance from the the hotel, one of Mark and Alex’s favorite spots for a (concealed) walking cocktail! And probably the best part....like all Smithsonian’s is FREE!
Thomas Jefferson Memorial
Alex’s favorite monument and stop on her running route. A beautiful stop for a walk or run around the Tidal Basin!
Lincoln Memorial
Mark’s favorite moment & favorite Illinois homeboy! Located in this middle of his down and back running route, it’s a must-stop on the tour of the Washington Mall
The Wharf
Mark and Alex’s favorite summertime hangout! Enjoy a beautiful stroll on the waterfront, observe the city from a rooftop view, or enjoy a variety of food and drinks! Reach out for specific recommendations (we have a TON!)
Georgetown
A historic and local favorite for anything you could possibly imagine. Mark is known to frequent a local bar or two while Alex shops her heart out. While not the easiest place to drive and park, (weather permitting) it’s a gorgeous walk from the Omni Shoreham!
Library of Congress
Capitol Hill’s pride and joy! Situated behind the Capitol Building this architectural beauty is worth a trip! If you have extra time you can even become a member like Mark and Alex! For extra points, ask Nicolas Cage to guide you to the book of presidential secrets
National Archives Museum
What can be more American than seeing the Declaration of Independence?? Easily the most visited museum by Mark and Alex....Mark may or may not have shed a tear when reading the words of our forefather’s
Eastern Market
One of the main reasons why Mark and Alex have called Capitol Hill their home! Not only is it a favorite spot for breakfast and buying fresh produce, it is home to their favorite Italian restaurant Acqua Al 2. Alex swears they have the best gnocchi’s she’s ever tasted!
