Travel Note
If driving from Boston, it is approximately a 4 hour drive. If you're driving from NYC, it will take you less than two hours by car to get to Foxfire Mountain House, specifically. Here's how to do it: Hop on the I-87 to the 28 West highway, which merges with the Onteora Trail; turn off onto Mt Pleasant Road then onto Andrew Lane to reach the hotel. We recommend downloading Google Maps of the area before leaving areas with cell service, as the mountains block cell signal once you're in and around Mt. Tremper. A link for how to do that is here: https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6291838?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid
Flight
Laguardia is the easiest for regular connections. If you're flying into New York, you can rent/drive a car and enjoy the 2.5 hour drive and beautiful scenery on your own. For those who are looking to spend less time on the road from NYC, the Albany International Airport is a great alternative for flying in. If you’re renting a car, the drive from ALB to the town of Mt. Tremper is approximately 1.5 hours, so it will definitely save you some time!
Train
Both Amtrak and Metro-North trains travel are good options to get to Poughkeepsie. Once in Poughkeepsie, you'll need to order a friendly Lyft or Uber driver once you arrive to the station to finish out the next 45-minutes of your journey. The other option from the train is to reserve a rental car from a service near the train station. Rhinecliff station is a bit closer to Mt. Tremper, 40-minute drive away from Foxfire, with Amtrak services connecting to New York City. If you're feeling especially transit oriented, you can also catch buses to Foxfire: -TrailwaysNY out of Port Authority in NYC -TrailwaysNY from Albany
