How can I get tested in Mexico and how much will it cost?

COVID TESTING ONSITE AT RESORT INCLUDED IN ALL-INCLUSIVE PACKAGE OF 3 NIGHTS OR MORE: In response to the CDC’s US travel regulations, Pueblo Bonito is including onsite COVID-19 testing services. - Test centers will be offered onsite, and the services will be included with our all-inclusive package for stays of 3 nights or longer. Arrangements can be made upon arrival at the resort, through the concierge or the front desk, and results will be provided the same day as the test is administered, in written format as required by the CDC. How can I avoid being tested while in Mexico?

Answer

AVOID BEING TESTED IN MEXICO BY MAKING YOUR TRIP 3 DAYS OR LESS: Testing must be done within 3 days of return flight to U.S. If you feel uncomfortable getting tested in Mexico, you can avoid this by making it a weekend trip with out having to miss the festivities (arrive Friday, depart Sunday). You can arrange to get your test on Friday morning before your flight and this result should be valid for your return flight on Sunday. Please verify with the airline that this is their policy before booking.

How can I lower my chances of testing positive while in Mexico?

Answer

From the time of exposure to symptoms and/or a positive test is called the incubation period. The average duration of incubation is from 5 to 7 days but can be as long as 14 days according to the CDC. If your trip is longer than 3 days and you will be getting tested at the resort you can avoid testing positive by quarantining as much as possible before your trip and/or getting tested prior to your trip. If you tested negative prior to your trip and then tested at the resort within 1-3 days of arrival, chances are slim that you would test positive while in Mexico (this would leave little time for an incubation period even if exposed between tests). The most crucial time to avoid any exposure will be in the days leading to your trip to avoid testing positive while in Mexico. If you had COVID within 90 days of your trip, please ask your doctor to write you a note and do NOT get tested while in Mexico.
