Dates scheduled for the Alaska State Fair are August 22, 2019- September 2, 2019. The fair includes many food vendors, arts and crafts, petting zoo, garden exhibits, carnival rides and more.
The address is approximate for Google Maps. This state park is historic and a landmark for Alaska gold mining history. The Manager's House has the visitor's center and museum. You will see displays about mining and the story and history of Independence Mine.
Take the Eklutna Lake exit at Mile 26 on the Glenn Highway, follow park signs 10 miles to Eklutna Lake. The nearest town is Eagle River. They do charge a parking fee to enter the park.
One of the best restaurants in the state! We have to go to this place every time we visit, sometimes more than once! Great menu full of Alaskan seafood, roasted meats, in house brewed ales including root beer and cream soda. Large dining room with sky high fireplace that is cozy and comfortable in downtown Anchorage.
Great pizza in Anchorage. This place is always busy! Reservations are recommended.
Homer Spit is a great place to be by the ocean watching for eagles, finding star fish, whale watching and seeing those cute little otters. There is also the famous Salty Dawg Saloon and a great fish and chips restaurant that catches halibut the same day and fries it up for you off the loading dock.
Seward is a port city. It houses the Kenai Fjords National Park where glaciers are located and easily viewable. They have many half day or full day boat trips that take you out and around the park where the coastal animals are found. The Alaska Sealife Center is also located in Seward. The Sealife Center is a rehab center for injured or abandoned Alaskan wildlife.
Denali National Park houses the famous Mount McKinley. It is quite the drive from Palmer or Anchorage but the views are incredible.
