Emily and Chris met in 2018 while they were both students at Liberty University. During the first week of school, they happened to be standing next to each other in a security line for one of the university’s weekly gatherings. Since the line was moving slowly, Chris casually struck up a conversation with Emily. At the time, neither of them thought much of the interaction. But before long, they started crossing paths frequently. Chris and Emily lived in dorm buildings directly across from one another, so they often found themselves walking toward the main academic building at the same time. Their separate sidewalks eventually merged into one, where they would frequently run into each other and stop to talk. Emily may have strategically merged onto Chris’s sidewalk a little earlier than necessary so he would see her… and it worked. Chris often noticed and would start a conversation as they walked. Before long, those short sidewalk conversations turned into something more, and they began dating. They were young and still figuring out their paths, so they eventually went their separate ways, but they always knew there was a special connection between them. A couple of years after graduating, they reconnected and decided to meet for what they like to call their “second first date” at a restaurant called Waterview at Lake Gaston, a halfway point between where they were both living at the time. Three years later, Chris proposed to Emily at that very same restaurant. All because Chris made a comment about a long line, and Emily made a few well-timed sidewalk decisions.
