how we met

it's a match

In the COVID world with bars and restaurants closed, the odds of meeting someone new were low, and the only option us single people had left was TINDER. Just kidding, but online dating was literally our only hope at finding someone to sit on a couch, order DoorDash and drink wine with on Friday nights. When the world pretended to open up, we went on our first date to Residual Sugar after matching on Hinge and exchanging fun facts for a few weeks. We both contemplated cancelling, but our friends would not let us. Low and behold, we actually had family (friends) in common, and quickly the stranger-danger wall dropped. Only being able to squeeze three real dates in before we were forced back inside, we knew we'd either get real comfortable with each other, quickly, or we'd never see each other again. Thankfully, our love of a good Friday night on the couch, watching a new Netflix murder-doc, ordering DoorDash, while sipping champagne got us to where we are today!

the proposal

yes, of course!

Recreating our first stay-cation together, we headed to Silverado Resort and Spa the day after Christmas to celebrate our one-year anniversary. Not only were we staying at our favorite place, but we were spoiled with a private tasting at Baldacci Family Vineyard and ending our celebration by having dinner at Restoration Hardware (yes, they have a restaurant). While at Baldacci, we were left alone in front of the fireplace and Christmas tree, and where Sandy did a 360-degree turn in pure nervousness. After getting us both to stand, he shared he knew the importance of my mom meeting the person I would end up with forever, and while he never got to meet her, he wanted me to know she was there. He handed me a small bag of my mom's ashes, to then drop down on one knee to ask to be together, forever. Believing I said "YES" out loud, he asked again to confirm! Not only was my mom there, but Sandy and my sister redesigned her wedding ring for us to start our forever, together.
