Imagine two sticky-fingered, overly competitive, zombie tag-loving 2nd graders on the playground of Red Rocks Elementary School...that is where it all began. At first, we were nothing more than arch-nemeses on the playground until I decided I had a crush on Josh because he was one of the only kids who could catch me. We were friends for the rest of elementary school until we continued onto the Deer Creek Middle School STEM program where we "dated" for the first time. Then, we both went to Columbine High School where we dated a fewww more times, and finally, we both landed at Montana State University! Go cats! Now we are here :)
First of all, let's get a round of applause for the proposal because it was perfect.... So, there is this hike by my house in Evergreen, CO that my dad and I usually do every summer. We hadn't yet made time to go on the hike so we put it on the calendar for the last free Saturday of the summer. As that Saturday was approaching, there were some suspicious things being said by family members and some "plans" for that Saturday that didn't really line up, so I was suspicious. I thought the hike was just a way to get me out of my house so Josh could set something up or get something ready somewhere else. As my dad and I were hiking, he suggested we hike back the way we came but go along the lake this time. As we were walking, he stopped to "give our dog some water" and told me to go first. I then see someone standing on a rock next to the lake, and at first, I just thought, "huh, that's funny, Josh has those same jeans"... I then suddenly realized what was happening. On my walk up towards Josh, there were signs on the trees approaching him that had every date we had started dating in the past, then he was standing on a blanket with roses and the final sign that said our wedding date. Josh knew it was important to me to have loved ones there, so my mom, my dad, my sister Rylan, his mom, his dad, his brother Ben and his wife Macy, and our best friends Andreas and Kenzie (which he flew out for me!), were all there. We had a picnic after, took pictures, and celebrated! It was truly a perfect day :)
