Initially skeptical about online dating, I decided to give it a whirl. Lo and behold, fate had its own plans. Just when I thought my trip couldn't get any crazier, I matched with the one and only William Derick Smith. Cue the butterflies! As we chatted and connected over the next few weeks, Derick became my rock through some unexpected bumps in the road. From housing mishaps to budget woes, he was my knight in shining armor. Then came the moment when everything seemed to align perfectly. Stranded at a bus station with no hope in sight, I made a desperate call to Derick. His mom, Lori, swooped in like a superhero, pulling strings and making magic happen. Talk about a rescue mission!
