The two met in Antigua, Guatemala at Ixchel Spanish Language Immersion School. Emmy asked Ian (Hyunug) to look around Antigua on a nice October day. What went from one tour around the city, soon became a frequent french fry date at Wendy's (those who know Emmy, knows she loves potatoes). This in turn became a nice dinner in town. This led to long distance for 7 months while Ian studied in China. After this long distance and a few short trips to see each other, it became clear that being apart was not in the plan for either of them. Ian moved to Seattle in August of 2017, and moved to Indonesia in September of 2018. A little after 2 years of being together, when Ian visited Seattle for Christmas, he proposed during the annual family Christmas White Elephant gift exchange. The next day, the two set off for Asia, where they spent quality time with Ian's family, and adventured in Jakarta, Indonesia, where the two will soon call home. The proposal was nothing short of incredibly special, to have Emmy's family right there to experience this once in a life time moment with her. Ian and Emmy will tie the knot on September 21st, 2019 in Everett, Wa at their home church. The two are so blessed to have you a part of their special day! They thank you for all the thoughts, well wishes, and prayers that everyone has given them and will continue to give as they begin this new adventure as newlyweds!
