When we lived downtown we were a few blocks away from Canalside and short drive from the Outer Harbor. We spent a lot of time down here! Canalside has a cool little beer garden to hang out at where they also serve finger foods and ice cream. They have recently added new structures replicating period correct buildings from the early 1800s and a new antique carousel from 1924. Outer Harbor has Tift Nature Preserve, bike parks, walking paths and the Buffalo Boat Harbor with Charlies Boat Yard Restaurant.
It hurts to share this place with all of you as we try to keep it a secret; they have only been getting busier and busier. Perfect for breakfast or lunch. You can find Patrick and Emmie here Sunday mornings for brunch having their favorite - biscuits & gravy, and homemade mini donuts.
Another AWESOME place for food. Only open for dinner, but it's right on the canal in North Tonawanda. Enjoy an early dinner and hang around the canal and Niagara River watching all the boats ride by on a Thursday or Friday night. Across the canal is also Remington Tavern and Seafood Exchange as well as Canal Club 62 for some other options.
A good place to start a brewery tour. Belt Line Brewery and Pressure Drop are near by. Hopefully Other Half Brewing has their little spot opened at Seneca One by the summer time! Big Ditch is another place to make a stop at.
If you're into the outdoors and hiking, the Gorge is a must hike. We recommend doing some research if this would be your first time hiking. People have gotten very hurt here and it can be a little strenuous. The trail start is inside the Whirlpool State Park - labeled #5 on the map
One of Emmie's favorite spots! Absolutely beautiful - a must visit. Check out the website to see what special events they are having! "It is a gathering place where visitors can find peace and harmony and enjoy the simple power of the natural world."
